Our growing vision to serve…
With over 250 Children’s Hospitals in the United States — many of which are increasingly specializing in the treatment of rare diseases — the need for safe air transportation for very sick children to access that care is substantial.
Since its founding over 12 years ago, AeroAngel has witnessed a growing demand for safe, private jet flights for medically fragile children, who are unable to safely travel on a commercial airline flight. We also believe a tremendous, unmet need exists for our services, as we have done very little outreach or advertising to make potential families and medical facilities aware of our program.
Even as our capacity to provide critical flights with donated business jets and funded charter flights has greatly expanded, the current limit to our flight program model is readily apparent. For this reason, our goal is to fund the acquisition of a suitable, dedicated business jet that would increase our capacity to serve more children and access more Children’s Hospitals across the country.
The plan is to base this first jet in the Denver area to enable a child’s flight to be immediately scheduled.
When the jet is not flying an AeroAngel mission, it would be available and operated for hire (charter) on a floating basis. This social-enterprise model would allow us to offset most of the operating costs for our missions. In future years, additional jets would be added and based in different locations across the country.
To fulfill this vision, AeroAngel will be launching a $10 million capital campaign to fund the acquisition of its first Embraer Phenom 300 this year.
